For once, the Government does something right.

Rejoice Team Magenta! There is hope. The Department of Justice filed today to block the acquisition of T-Mobile by Ma Bell. Now I’m not one to favor the government much, but I must admit that I am quite surprised by this swift action from the DOJ. I fully expected the merger to go forward in the same way that all these mergers go, typically the parties involved buying the governments approval. I hope that this is a sign that there ARE good decisions being made by our government sometimes. Sometimes. We libertarians are often painted as government haters, and I must admit to some extent it is true. However, I do  believe firmly that government can have a productive role in our society, and this case is an example. Government should protect the “free” (I know) market, and hopefully this simple action demonstrates that there still are good Americans working in “Big Government”, some even trying to make the best of a FUBAR’d situation. One can hope….
